What is this guy's problem? This is the headline and whole premise of the article.

Decent sports reporters (or at least what passes for decent ones these days) make an attempt to connect their predetermined story line to some aspect of what really happened. Gilbeau apparently sees no reason to even make the attempt. When did this LSU team ever blow anyone out? Was the selection committee completely incompetent making Butler a #9 seed and LSU a #8? Gilbeau writes what Gilbeau wants to write. What really happened is pretty much beside the point for him.

So the entire article about the game is that big bad LSU didn't blow away poor little Butler. If I'm not mistaken, Butler has been ranked for most of the year, and shouldn't have been a 9 seed.
How about a congrats to LSU for surviving a tough first round game? It's okay to mention that they had chances to extend the lead, but to make the whole article about "only winning by a few", especially during a tournament that makes it's money by big upsets every year (and this was a 1 1/2 - 2 pt. spread).

I'm not defending Gillbutt by any means. I'm saying LSU had an over 6 minute dry spell where more points could have been had.

I stand by my thread. I don't go looking for Guilbeau articles. I was searching the sports section of the Lafayette paper online, and there it was. It did catch my attention. So I read the article. I don't care if he thinks he did his job by grabbing my attention. Someone from LSU needs to grab him by the nuts because he is totally incapable of writing a positive LSU article.
What was his headline earlier this year, "LSU wins crown in the worst conference ever"? He probably wrote that Trent Johnson should refuse the SEC crown because the SEC was the absolute worst conference in the history of college basketball.

What else did Spencer say? Is that the only thing out of his mouth the entire pressconference? It's okay to mention it, and Spencer was only answer a question from a reporter (maybe Guilbeau himself asked it). But I promise you that Spencer didn't spend as much time talking about that part as Guilbeau spent writing his entire article about how bad LSU played because the couldn't put away such a weakling Butler team from the putrid Horizon Conference.

Guilbeau is a complete douche. He used to be pretty good, until he decided his career was going no where and he would be more popular brown nosing the national media by bashing LSU, ala Tim whatshisname that used to be on tv in Baton Rouge.
