I don't think there's just one defining moment, seems to me there's been a few, each in different eras and time periods. But over the past 30-40 years, I'd have to say the 2003 NC was number one:

• It put us back in the national spotlight and among the nation's elite sports programs, and we're still there six years later

I mean no disrespect to the baseball program which, over a 10-year period, DEFINED the words "sports dynasty" as well as any college team in any sport ever has. In fact, you could call their 10-year run not a defining moment, but a defining decade, which gives you a real perspective on how extraordinary their accomplishments were. But for better or worse, football dominates in terms of recognition, publicity, etc., and the 2003 NC set us up as one of the nation's elite sports schools in the present era.
