LSU Spring Practice Begins: March 12 Game: April 18
The early spring buzz ... Last year was just a stepping stone to get back to form. After winning the 2007 national title, there was an inevitable drop-off with so much personnel turnover in key places. But Les Miles and the coaching staff were able to reload with elite prospects over the last few years and they’ll all be expected to contribute early on. With the quarterback situation a bit more settled, John Chavis coming in from Tennessee to take over the defensive coordinator job, and with some surprising decisions by OT Ciron Black and WR Brandon LaFell to come back for their final seasons, the team is loaded again.
The big spring question is ... Just how good is Jordan Jefferson? If you listen quietly, Jarrett Lee just threw another pick six. He’s still around, but Andrew Hatch transferred to Harvard, where he started out his career meaning Jefferson is likely the only real option the coaching staff will feel mildly comfortable with. There’s true freshman Russell Shepard ready to hit the field this spring, but his future, at least if he wants to go to the NFL, might be at receiver. Jefferson is the guy for the time being, especially after a strong second half of the year. Now he has to make more plays and prove that he’s not under center because he’s not Lee.
The most important position to watch is ... Defensive linemen. LSU has been a factory for high-level stars for the defensive front, but anyone would have concerns after losing Tyson Jackson, Ricky-Jean Francois, Marlon Favorite, and Kirston Pittman. Al Woods appears to be the next great Tiger tackle if he can keep his size in check, and Drake Nevis is a promising inside presence, but there will be an overall drop-off even though last year’s line was a disappointment.
Spring attitude... LSU 38 – Georgia Tech 3. After losing three of the final four games, and needing an epic fourth quarter to get by Troy in the one win, LSU limped into the Chick-fil-A Bowl. With time to prepare, the defense stopped the Yellow Jacket attack while the offense found its mojo with a strong performance. Will that be the type of game that propels the program to a high level again? It should’ve provided the confidence boost needed for a relatively young team.

Hey JL supporters, this can confirm within your one-sided mind that the kid is actually a punching bag for this kind of stuff. No one respects the, how do yall say it, "Great toughness he showed all season." Can't wait for Chris Garrett, Russell Sheppard, and JJ..

djack you can go jump in the middle of a semi on I-10....
JLee struggled and showed signs of promise, the job for qb is JJ's to lose but J Lee will prob be needed again at some time in his career here, why bash the kid because as a r/s freshmen he made mistakes? he didnt single handly lose games for us, though at times he helped, and at other times he helped us win......
why be a F'wad bout Lee? he didnt force anyone to let him be QB, he went in and tried to do his best when his number was called
for all the dumbasses who say Lee SHOULD transfer.... why? only reason for him to transfer are to better hisself as far as PT... no reason any LSU fan should want him to transfer as he is a quality back up who will get better.....

I think Jefferson is the man for the job this season.
I will thank Lee for that win at Auburn though. I can't believe he fell so hard after pulling off thew in there.

ALABAMA! Jarrett Lee 34-13-4-(4 interceptions!)
Say it with me again 4!
If you watched that game you would realize that it was entirely his fault. C Scott rushed for 100 & Keiland ran for 83. Had great run support so don't give me that BS.
Our defense held the #1 rushing team in the conference to 138 total yards on the ground.
lsutiger4life know your facts before you start posting stuff.
Fact:
-LSU D played best game of year
-Couldn't move ball in 3rd qtr whatsoever because of Lee
-Even after it looked hopeless, we blocked a chip shot fg; only to have JL screw it up again.
A real winner there.
And for those that know me, I was @ Auburn and couldn't say enough positives about JL. Fact of the matter is, he got worse as the season went on. Same mistakes and NO LEADERSHIP

so you want to bash a 19 year old kid for 1 game he "single" handly lost????? which he didnt, he stunk it up, coaching blew that game along with costly penalties, and key breakdowns on D plus Lee's dismal performance......
no one has to sell me on nothing, JJ is the man for now and probably next 3 years, barring injury Lee will never start again, but he's a HUGE ASSET for this team and a quality back up......

I'll give you quality backup. I don't think I ever said he shouldn't be that? But I was correcting your previous error saying that Lee didn't cost us games. He most certainly did. Your team literally destroys Bama upfront for three quarters and you can't win. The reason we lost the game was because we were one dimensional.
D lost many games this season. Bama was not one of them.

I thought this too, and then thought... good.
And I secretly hope Rahim read the article, and it pissed him off.

I didn't think we stopped Julio Jones...
that catch in OT hurt...just saying...JL can't cover a WR and Julio Jones beat us along with some help from JL

quote:I don't want him to transfer. I want him to play better. None of us thinks he threw those interceptions on purpose. And, we're aware that he showed up at the press conferences and took the heat. But, his improvement will be mental. He has no problem physically.

Jordan Jefferson played well. He made the most of his opportunities. He's a smart, talented player, and he does what a quarterback has to do to win. He reminds me of Matt Maulk, Matt Flynn and Herb Tyler. We don't need an all american, we just need a good quarterback.
And, I'm all for Jarett Lee doing well. But, from my perspective, the job is Jefferson's to lose. And, that's the way it should be.
