how long until he is replaced by either nola or hanover at 3B?

When he becomes a detriment to LSU winning games. Until that happens he will stay.

i was starting to wonder the samething. seems he has been in a slump since late last year. also nola is burning it up right now.

helenihi is at 235.only a few hits from 300.you know someone has to be the out in the lineup.we have a good team so someone will get out.id bet helenihi will bat 280 and may get alot of outs.serves well for the others.i mean trying to replace him.has he made alot of errors.

I have been wondering this for awhile. Helinihi also struggled towards the end of last year also, and I think he may be the one weak link of the offense. But, I'm sure he will start for awhile longer, but I also think that Manieri will play who probably deserves to play and the better players. So if Derek continues to stuggle, there are others chomping at the bit(whatever the hell that means) to start in his place!

has shimpf been in a slump since late last season? This isn't a one weekend thing. If we see his d slipping then id say a switch is close but as long as the rest of our is rolling and he isn't giving away free outs he will probably keep starting.

look at the thread above where i got bashed for saying that

You are choosing to only look at the last 2 weeks instead of his issues for a long stretch at the end of the year and continuing to this year.
FYI, Ochinko's performance is still in question. Shimpf's is not.

Helenihi is a defensive role player holding a spot for either Nola or Hanover until they are ready.
Helenihi is not going to hit much better than he is hitting now. As I said earlier in a thread that got whacked, with Nola there wouldn't be much, if any, of a drop off on defense, but any drop off would be more than made up for by the 50+ extra points on the batting average and the better power numbers. He would also gain valuable experience for when he takes over for DJ next year after DJ gets drafted.
Hanover has also proven that he can hit pretty well and is also a very good fielder. He can be a valuable speed guy like the Irvine center fielder last year and would add even more speed to our already fast lineup. He would also gain much needed experience before he would move over to his natural position at 2nd after Schimpf leaves.
Either would be an improvement in the long term, and both would probably be an improvement in the short term.
