i dabble in perplexity. the computer function seems to be much better with data and spreadsheets than the normal functions. it does cost extra. seems to be about $1 per minute of computation for complex tasks.

From my understanding about perplexity.. normal users do not know about it or use it. Only computer nerds use it so the search results are geared towards nerds than average everyday normies users because perplexity doesn't have a lot of search data for normal users

I use Perplexity from time to time if I want detailed sources to answer specific questions. I don't subscribe, though. I don't use it a lot, but when I do I am not unhappy with the results.

Right now, Security is.... undetermined at best.

I wouldn't trust Google or ChatGPT. Microsoft i trust only slightly more.

Claude is the "safest," but that's a relative term.

Perplexity's User terms are problematic, and I think they'll be wooed by advertisers long term if they can't generate revenue another way. They had the lead on the nerdier side of the market, but Claude ambushed them.
