We just bought our 15-year-old son his first real desktop computer. Looking for some advice on content monitoring software or controlling software. I’m seeing Qustodio come up quite a bit in the reviews. Any thoughts, parents of the tech board? TIA

The best would be to keep that desktop out of his room and in a public area.

This is going to go over your head, but is advice for you to call GeekSquad or a local IT place to make this change for you. It's not hard, but probably outside of your capacity to deal with it. We might be able to walk you through it if we knew your router/gateway model. If you bought a six pack of beer to pay me to do this, I wouldn't get through the first beer before I was done.

Change the default DNS settings of your gateway/router to Cloudflare or NextDNS (which is more customizable.) The instructions are here, and it works on his phone, iPad, desktop, etc. when at home.

You can restrict individual sites, potentially bad YouTube content (which is where most of them descend into brain rot,) etc.
