Drove through there today. Depressing. Reminds me a lot of the Black Belt towns in Alabama. GPS has been detouring me around it all week. Now I know why.

Seriously though, some of my best memories are visiting my grandmother in Jeanerette in the 70s.

My old man was from there. Dude was never really sick. When he was 79, I was telling someone that the reason he was never sick was that he grew up swimming in Bayou Teche. Literally the next fricking day he was diagnosed with pancake cancer and was dead less than 90 days later.

Lejeune’s bread is worth the drive.
