Hamstring Injury

Anyone here have experience with a grade 2 hamstring injury? Felt it pop when going up for a hit while playing beach volleyball. Injury was April 6th, so I'm a week out now. Last week was miserable. By Friday, I was finally able to somewhat walk. Slowly getting to the point where I can do most normal every day tasks (couldn't dream of putting shoes on last week). Bruising has really showed up over the last 48 hours. It's pretty gnarly looking.
Trying to determine my next steps to get back to being active and reduce my chances for reinjury. 49 years old, 5'11" and 170 pounds. I'm an active person, but not really a gym person. I like to be active outside, whether it's running or biking or volleyball or pickleball or golf. Mostly a runner, since I enjoy it and is what I like to do, and that's what I really want to get back to, along with beach volleyball, since my SO and I really enjoy doing that together.
Anyone with any experiences in recovery? Would love to hear about it. I'm all ears.

Yep, popped mine deadlifting 20 years. Did you "hear" it through your jawbone like I did?
The bruising is going to start sinking toward you calf and ankle as the fluid settles.
I used electro-acupuncture and e-stim, and stopped limping completely after a month I think. One technique I use now to help prevent injury is to use the seat heaters to/from lower body workouts, it seems to do a good job of loosening it up.

Already using them for my lower back.
