Former All-Pro center Barret Robbins, largely known for leaving the Oakland Raiders' team hotel on the eve of their most recent Super Bowl appearance in 2003, died at 52, the team confirmed Friday.
Ex-teammate Tim Brown, a Hall of Fame wide receiver, announced Robbins' death on social media Thursday night. Brown said Marissa Robbins told him her husband died in his sleep overnight.
No cause of death was provided by the team.

He had missed a couple of games earlier in his career due to mental health episodes, but the details around the Super Bowl disappearance are next level.
He experienced a severe delusional manic episode, and he was found across the border in Tijuana wildly celebrating a Super Bowl victory (for a game to be played the following day).
Bill Callahan initially thought he had fallen off the wagon and gone to Tijuana on a bender. Al Davis was adamant that Robbin’s would play in the game, and even went so far as to have Robbins run sprints in the hotel parking lot to sweat out the toxins.
Callahan’s plan was to bench him for the first series as punishment, but follow AD’s wishes and let him play the rest of the game. However, Callahan realized something was seriously wrong when he met with Barrett Robbins face to face, and tried to fly him back to Oakland on the morning of the Super Bowl to seek professional help.
That didn’t happen because Robbins had lost all his IDs in Mexico.
