Looking to play somewhere Friday afternoon around Lake Charles as my son and I will be looking to waste a few hours.

Not against the Nugget, but I have played there a decent amount and looking for a new experience. The Nugget is the only course around LC I have played however.

What ya got?

Mallard would be the newest place to play. Links style course so wind can definitely be an issue this time of year. The National in Westlake is a nice course. Lake Charles Country Club has the nicest greens in the area but you'll need a member to get you on there.

Mallard is fun, but windy. Also on a Friday don't be alarmed about all the gunfire. It's just the Lake Charles Gun Club range.

National’s brand new clubhouse/restaurant is shut down due to shoddy construction. That’s all I got.

Ended up playing Mallard. Overall course was as good as it gets for $42. Greens on the front were kinda rough, had just been sanded. The back was in good shape.
