I was just going to bump the original release thread, but it wasn't labeled as spoiler/spoiler free, so figured it wouldn't hurt to create a new one for the PC release. Initial reviews regarding performance optimization look really good. Anyone pull the trigger yet and can confirm?

Got in about four hours tonight. Really, really enjoying it. I forgot how much I enjoyed the first one as a pure gaming experience. Anyway, running extremely well. Game looks gorgeous and I haven't noticed any stutters/drops or graphical degradation (I'm wording it in this somewhat odd way as DLSS uses a target fps by default, not the normal settings, so saying that I've been maintaining 65-70fps in that context is a bit meaningless. I'll test it with fixed settings probably tomorrow).

32GB 3800mhz RAM
Gen 3 NVME

Played for a couple of hours this evening on DLSS quality. Maintained a pretty consistent 75-80fps with deviations from 70-90fps, but no hard drops or stutters. Looks like my target setting had me primarily running at native with DLSS AA when I was sitting at 60-65fps.

Considering my system is over half a decade old at this point, massive kudos to them for the optimization job they did. I imagine anyone playing at 1440p or lower with a dedicated graphics card from the last decade should be able to play this at reasonable settings.

This and CD releasing with such amazing optimization is really promising going forward

Seems like a couple years ago you were having to upgrade GPU's to play newer games

Likely my last performance review post unless someone has specific questions:

With static DLSS AA, I average 65-70 fps with deviations from 55-75fps. On a 32GB RAM system, my total system allocation during gameplay is usually between 14-15gb. On a 10gb VRAM card, the game usually has just over 8gb of VRAM allocated.

Let us know when you are done if the optimization was good for the whole game. Jedi Survivor was fine in the first area but as the game progressed the wheels came off.

So fricking disappointing how they abandoned that game. It had the bones of a legitimately great game, but I’ll likely never play it again because of the performance issues they refused to fix.

They fixed them. I played it again end of last year and had zero frame issues and one crash.

I played the year before and had zero frame issues but a ton of crashing. I think the 2024 play was my fault not them. Because after completing the game I crashed a lot with the next game and did a clean install of windows and the problem went away.

I did a full girthy play maybe not 100% but close to it so I think it is fixed at least for powerful systems. I have 64GB & a 4090.

I tried to play it again after the last patch; still had tons of stutters and frame drops. With that said, I’m not contesting your personal experience, but I’m not sure “it runs well enough on the most powerful GPU in existence” constitutes “fixed”

Shame if they never fully fixed it because it was a lot of fun once the crashing stopped. The 2024 play nearly killed me because of the save checkpoints. Crashing wouldn't have bothered me as much if the checkpoints were all over the place but I had to redo a lot of work because it only saves at checkpoints and they weren't placed very well.

They mostly fixed the crashes, but they abandoned the game before they fixed the frame drop/stuttering issues. It was still particularly bad within the cantina, which was particularly annoying.

Really enjoying it. The new BT mechanics are interesting. Never came close to a void out in the first game; got nuked not long into the second major area in DS2
