Is there a minimum amount you need to spend to justify using your debit card?

I was fiending for a pack of cream-filled orange Twizzlers but didn't want to use my debit card at the Dollar Gendral for a measly $1.50; so, I felt compelled to also throw in a pack of Chewy Chips Ahoy to bring the total over five bucks to make it a "legitimate" transaction.

There is not a dollar value too low for me to not just use my Amex.

No.
Who cares in 2026.
We’re moving to cashless in not too long anyway.

I get how you feel & usually carry some small cash for this reason. However, as others have already said, who cares? We're about to be cashless anyway. And then, using your debit card is risky because of fraud.
