quote:

After nearly 50 years in Orange County, Yamaha Motor Corp. USA is packing up its headquarters — trading Cypress, California for Kennesaw, Georgia in a sweeping corporate shift that will impact about 250 workers.

The motorcycle and motorsports giant says the move is part of major “structural reforms” meant to boost profits as costs climb — including pressure from tariffs imposed during the administration of President Donald Trump and shifting market conditions.

The relocation won’t happen overnight. Yamaha plans to start the exit in late 2026, with the transition stretching into 2028.

Company spokesman Bob Starr said consolidating operations in Georgia simply makes business sense.

This is laughable. . . and code for "we're following all of the other companies who want to take our obligations to stockholders seriously"

Yamaha just wasn’t the right fit for the communist utopia California is building.

Lucky for Yamaha, they already had a footprint in GA. Recreational motorsports in Newnan, and Marine in Kennesaw meant they already had a feel for what business in GA would be like. Had a relative that used to work in their recreational R&D as a tester. Loved going to see him at the lake with all the latest Yamaha water craft and dirt bikes.

California taxes and regulations have started benefitting other states much more than they do California.

That, and forced minimum wages that are high.
