How to explain the streakiness at the plate?

I’ve played baseball my entire life to include 4 years of juco and ncaa baseball and I’ve never quite seen anything quite to this extent. I usually can understood slumps and weekend skids.. but I can’t quite understand how we can go one game where we’re hitting 12-15 XBH/HR and then go the next 2-3 games of getting shut out going into the 7th against far inferior pitching.
It’s mind boggling.

We are all pondering, including the team, how that is possible. However, it can happen every once in awhile even with very talented teams. Good news is we can still turn it around.

YES, this 180 swing is nuts and inexplicable for me as well.

Mind boggling is the perfect way to put it. Outside of Friday the last 7-8 games have been impossibly bad.
I don’t know shite. But I do wonder if they all got big heads after a hot start and then their mental game fell off a cliff. I also wonder if Jay is over coaching these dudes and they can’t handle the pressure.
Either way there is way too much talent on the team to lose 4 out of 5 non conference games in a week. Something is going on beyond the thats just baseball.

I get why you might say that, but nothing I have seen isn't like things I have seen before, even in the same season; the difference is the concentration.
It's not that they aren't making good contact; they have hit some really hard balls right at people and had multiple games with spectacular plays on balls that may have dropped for extra base hits, but for those plays.
The really bad part here, and I had hoped the offensive explosion on Friday would ease this, is that the players feel the need to do something to help their team and begin pressing when they just need to relax. Since you have played competitively, I'm sure you know what I am talking about. Anyone competitive at any level understands pressing. It's easy to remind yourself that it serves very little purpose, but it is not easy to stop yourself from slipping into it. That is what Jay needs to address and what the players need to deal with.
I don't know how the season will play out, but slumping early is better than slumping late, so lets get it over with and start perfoming again.
