Do Azaleas normally bloom this early?

I thought it wasn’t until well into March but I could be wrong. I assume the warm weather makes it sooner?

Blooming in azaleas and other shrubs can be triggered by cold-hot swings rather than spring warming. So, this is normal. Making it a bit more complicated is that newer azalea strains are rebloomers that can be triggered any time of year.

I’ve also had this question before. I’ve taken pics of some Azaleas that I can see from my work break room during peak bloom. I always feel like it’s earlier and earlier but normally just moves a week or so each way.

Mine aren’t blooming yet, but they are damn sure budding out!

Mine are in full bloom right now which I also thought was strange, but we had several days of warm weather (with minimal rain).
