If he doesn’t fall during his performance the technical score should be so high that it can’t be touched by others.

But alas, we also have shady arse French judges.

It appears as if the US will not request an investigation into the ice dance judging, and I think that’s sad. Chock and Bates were straight up robbed of the gold. The Americans have been gracious in defeat and the French couple have been humble in victory, but I imagine that’s because they realize they had help, although they had no direct involvement in the cheating.

I wonder if there’s concern with the next Winter Olympics being located in France that there could be backlash.

Backlash against American athletes? Maybe, but when you have one judge whose scores would be considered an outlier in any mathematical calculation, shouldn’t he at least have to justify his numbers? If they threw out the highest and lowest scores for both teams, Chock and Bates would’ve won. I’m just not happy that our Olympic officials aren’t standing up for our athletes, unless Chock and Bates do not want to appeal, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

I was surprised to find out that they don't throw out the highest and lowest scores. Both gymnastics and diving throw out the high and low. In fact, gymnastics throw out the 2 high and 2 low. It's very possible that they don't want to contest since the French pair are their training partners and probably good friends.

This is a good reminder to never host the Summer Olympics in Morocco.

Apparently this particular French judge has a track record of inflating this couple’s scores. Why the hell was she even allowed to judge them?

Yes, as in purposefully under scoring them at the next Olympics.

I don't disagree in that we should pursue an appeal. US Gymnastics was successful in doing it for Chiles but it's taken FOREVER. Could be Chock and Bates are just over the bullshite and want to move on.

I honestly feel like there should be a policy in place where you cannot judge athletes from your home country. Similar to the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, where ADs from schools participating have to be out of the room when it comes to their school's seeding/selection.

This is the best time to be watching if you get a chuckle from the falls... though that means you have to put up with listening to Tara and her girlfriend Johnny Queer for 3 hours. The last group is really the only ones good enough where you are looking for them to blow you away.

I have a bad feeling Illia is going to do something near the end of his program to open the door for the Eurotrash judges to frick him over. This is his 4th skate in a week... it will be amazing if he had a completely clean program.

Ironically, Ilia has the same advantage that the judges gave to the French ice dancers, even more so. He’s got a 5 point lead going into the long program. Even if he is less than perfect, his level of difficulty is greater than his competitors. I’m not saying he can’t lose, but he’s in a pretty good spot.
