Think people think! When a person passes away, the hospital does not report anything to Social Security or to the government. They prepare the body and send it off to a funeral home of the family’s choosing, either for burial or cremation. A death certificate is issued to the family. If the deceased person is receiving Social Security, the checks keep coming in until someone reports it to Social Security. The hospital never does that so there’s no need to hide the bodies as this video implies. The person is buried or cremated like anyone else and nothing gets reported to the government.

I can't speak for every state but this is not true across the board. My Mom died last year and 10 days later her social security checks stopped and the hospital and state agencies had her recorded dead on everything. I didn't notify anyone and was kind of hoping one last check would hit the account to help with funeral expenses. I don't really consider it fraud to receive your monthly check the same month you died as you were alive for part of that month. But it didn't happen, SS knew right away.
Obviously if someone dies at home and a family member buries them in the backyard there is no way to track that.

If a death certificate is issued, it is reported to social security by the issuing state. Since ssa received is for a prior month tho it often leads to checks issued and then ssa recalling the funds.

If you listen to the podcast you'll notice that the "mystery" is that NO Somali ever dies of natural causes or at an old age. Meaning they die at home and are never reported.

You probably live in a state that respects the law and protects the taxpayer
