New report reveals US may have sold Bitcoin despite Trump exec order

LINK

US prosecutors’ treatment of Bitcoin forfeited by Samourai Wallet developers is drawing new scrutiny.

Court records and blockchain data suggest the assets sets may have been transferred and potentially liquidated, reported Bitcoin Magazine. That sale would appear to conflict with a White House order requiring forfeited Bitcoin to be held, not liquidated.

The situation raises questions about how the Justice Department handles seized crypto. It also tests whether federal agencies are following President Donald Trump’s Strategic Bitcoin Reserve directive.

And that avoids the issue, unless you think this is completely something made up, is it right that this sale took place?

The Samourai Wallet website and servers have been seized by U.S. law enforcement agencies. Its co-founders have pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and were sentenced to prison in late 2025.

The US Government took their devices that the bitcoin was stored on. I assume they also got the private keys or they wouldn’t have been able to do anything with it.

No moron. When stored properly it can't be accessed without private keys (large sets of words).
If a government takes control, you let them have, or find, your keys.

Not your keys, not your crypto
