Change the portal day to May, he said, to match up with the academic calendar. Move spring practice until after the portal closes.

The format is more in line with what the NFL does.

“You wouldn’t have these issues with coaches changing jobs because everyone could finish the season with their team, which is what is best for the players,” Saban said.
