I thought DaShawn Spears looked great

Spears, as you may know, was one of the highest graded defenders all year despite limited snaps.
I thought he played violent roaming sideline to sideline.
Maybe might not have the same cerebral-esque plays Haulcy displayed (the punch out near the GL against Ole Miss comes to mind) but Spears is going to maintain the physicality he brought to the position.

On a crucial 3rd down he came on a free rush at the QB. I've seen that play 100 times, and it feels like 90 of those times they whiff and the QB no longer has any pressure and easily converts.
It was so refreshing to see him throttle down and contain, forcing an incomplete on rather than go for the blow up hit

He read a screen on the play and got a pass deflection.

He stood out to me as well for having a solid game. Watching the game wasn't all bad. I saw guys playing hard and being frustrated with themselves when they made mistakes. It was a growth game for most of them.

The first two defensive snaps of the game got me super pumped
Play 1: he flew down hill and took on an Olineman, set the edge and kept his outside shoulder free and made a tackle for loss.
Play 2: Houston hit a little crease up the middle, and Spears came in and smacked the ball carrier full speed at full speed, tackling him for a modest 4 yard game.
