Unfortunately, that statement is true but it’s been the case even before NIL came into play. Nothing will change unless NIL contracts address this or fans stop attending bowl games. The mindset is that bowls are meaningless unless you’re in the playoffs. Honestly, if I were NFL caliber, I’d probably make the same choice. For most players, bowls only matter if they’re passionate about the game, playing their final college snap, or trying to earn more playing time.

Unless your team is in the playoffs and one of the top 4 seeds, there’s no reason to play these stupid arse bowl games. The team that went through the season and qualified is not the team you see in bowl games. The meaningless bowls played by scrubs need to go away.
