Pink Flamingos and Gummo should probably get mentioned in this thread. I'll do it, since Cannibal Holocaust was stolen from me.

that was a real live turtle they butchered too. they also chopped off the face of a large spider monkey on camera. peta is still pissed almost 30 years later

I'm pretty sure there were a couple more actual animal deaths in Cannibal Holocaust as well. That is actually a pretty well made movie too.
Also, did they change the title of Braindead to Dead Alive for the North American release, or vise versa? It's one of my favorite horror films of all time.

You thought that was the worse scene?
What the disembowelment and rape scene? The Pole girl scene? The rock rape scene?
All of those were far more disturbing than the fricking turtle scene.

I watched it because I was told that it was "over the top" shocking and it delivered on that front I suppose. But the movie itself felt like a student film; to me it actually seemed like a cheap B movie. The acting and story were not great. I actually really disliked it and felt that they put the animal scenes in there purely for the shock value.
To each his own but I thought that was a bad movie and don't recommend it to anyone.
