staged or not, it doesn't change the fact that he does what he does. He just sets the situation up first, and does everything the hard way.

By extension giving you the idea that what he is doing is the best ad-hoc way to go about surviving. Which it fricking isn't.

quote:

Summiting Everest is way harder than catching food and building a shelter. You or I have a better chance of surviving in the wilderness than we do trying to climb Everest.

Of course it is.

Being a brain surgeon is harder than being a mechanic, but that doesn't mean I want a Brain Surgeon fixing my car.

The point is that Everest will not teach you the skills you need to spend a week in the woods catching food just as Med School won't teach you to fix a car.

quote:

Bear already knows how to find food and shelter! The son of a bitch will eat anything thats edible, and always has a quality shelter.

1) His crew helps him create a shelter
2) His crew sometimes places food into the traps he sets up.

He does know how to find, water, and shelter I'm not denying that, but you made this claim

quote:

Bear has just as much survival information as survivor man does.

Which is not true since a shelter created by a team of trained crew people and provided food aren't analogous to real survival.

quote:

But you have to admit when he see's a snake and just grabs that bitch, bites its fricking head off, and eats it...thats just badass.

No shite. Going back to my first post I admitted MvW is more entertaining however its the arse backwards thing to do if you are in the wilderness.

quote:

Dude, I hope one would have enough common sense not to emulate the dangerous stuff he does for the camera like scale cliffs.

Considering some of the comments in this thread such as you are better off trying to find help(Basically always wrong) people don't.

quote:

the best way to eat

By biting the head of a snake or squeezing elephant shite? Ummm no he doesn't.

quote:

I just think that with his level of training and accomplishments, that Bear is better suited for all types of survival.

Maybe true, but we have no true way to measure that.

quote:

Basically, I pretty much choose Bear b/c he kills rabbits with sticks, and eats leftover Zebra while the Lions watch...instead of some guy carving a stick and playing with a video camera!

If you are choosing it for the sensationalism aspect of it then don't make claims like

quote:

Bear has just as much survival information as survivor man does.

dude, he doesn't have a week to do this shite! The point is to show how its done and off to next task. I'm sure if he was really lost he can build a badass shelter and find his food on his own. Its about Man vs Wild....not man sits in one area and survives in the wild. So of course there is gonna be a time lapsed.

My Everest point is more about creating a survivors mentality, it will help with morale and sanity if you're lost I'm sure. A sense of accomplishment can go a long way.

that last comment you're referring to was an attempt at humor FWIW

If you think that Bear isn't capable of doing everything that Stroud does you're kidding yourself
