No need for either, they already get a bye week, some teams get two. Top 16 teams, AP, coaches poll, and a power poll. 8 games, 4, 2, 1. The team ranked 17, 18 has no argument of why they were left out.

Agreed. Get rid of conference championship games, use the BCS system to rank teams, and have a 16 team playoff. That’s realistically as good as it’s going to get for the time being.
