Will vary based on needs and location - we use SimpliSafe (w/o monitoring) + big protective dog + 12 gauge but we live on rural acreage bordered by National Forest land so probably apples/oranges to your question

I've used ring for a pretty long while now with no issues, at least 5 years . Pretty sure some of it is on sale right now. Had simplisafe and the support was overseas and had issues when I had a hardware problem. I know if you pay for monitoring you get some sort of certificate to give to your homeowners. I forget how much the discount is. Maybe it covers some of the monthly cost.
