Does anyone have any experience with this knife? Looking to gift a bushcraft (survival) knife to my soon to be son-in-law, but I honestly don’t know much about them. This particular one has been recommended by a few different people, but wanted to get a few more opinions. Any info on this, or any other suggestions would be great. Looking to stay in the $250 range, and want just a bushcraft / survival option with not one particular function in mind. Just an all around good knife for hunting, fishing, camping, and whatever else may come his way.

I own several TOPS knives, most are fixed blade but the one folder i have is the field craft folder. Great quality knives all around but he'll need to sharpen it regularly. Super sharp edge but they use high carbon steel

Thanks. Again, I don’t know much about knives, so I’m counting on some help from people that do. In regards to the TOPS I mentioned above, this is part of the description in regards to the blade:

“The Fieldcraft's blade is 0.19" thick, and made of 154CM stainless steel. The cutting edge is a modified Scandinavian Grind, which is very effective for carving, skinning and other general woods work. With a rockwell hardness of 56-58, the ease of sharpening is astounding. That is if you ever get to sharpen the blade. As the hardness and edge geometry work beautifully together to make a long lasting edge.”

I'll have to take a look at that specific knife because they typically use 1095 high carbon. It'll be a good knife for him, none the less. Much cheaper option but check out Buck, they have customization options on a few of their models and those are fantastic knives with a lifetime warranty
