Louisiana's oldest WWII veteran - 106 years old (and spry as can be)

Today I had the honor and privilege of driving Sam Archie Mattox, Louisiana's oldest living WWII veteran, in a Veteran's Day Parade. His wife and son are with him in the picture below. He's very spry for 106. He walked over to the 45 GPW (WIllys jeep built at the Ford plant in WWII) on his own, and with very little help from a Marine Veteran, was able to hop into the jeep (which is normally not an easy feet for anyone over 70). Kids were coming over and giving him hugs and thanking him for his service. People were taking pictures. It was a good day seeing the good in Louisiana.

Is he the oldest surviving one?
Getting to the point where there aren’t many more left and soon that generation will be long gone. Sucks.
