Just because an older coach or player ends up working with a younger coach or player does not equate to the older person being a mentor. Speaking as a man in old age now, not every person has that talent or that personality to make that happen.

The same with a rookie quarterback (especially) playing behind a more established quarterback. It doesn't mean the older guy teaches him anything OR the younger guy has an ego and won't listen.

Ok. Sorry for the diatribe. I saw someone mention the idea of a young up-and-coming coach hiring an older, talented coordinator and having the coordinator "mentor" the neophyte head coach.
