Cutting expenses/spending has given rise to Socialism in the U.S. - Will it succeed?

I’m not sure there is much doubt about it - and I certainly don’t like it, but . . .
Trump and company ushered in a decisive and immediate time of deep cuts to government and it charged up the traditional Democratic base and made socialism actually acceptable (that most of us never thought was possible from a national perspective).
And, let’s face it, there are government-employed (or at least those who make a living on a government contract) Trump voters as well, whose jobs/dollars (from government contracts, projects, etc.) are affected. They like the message - just maybe not the result.
It will interesting to see how the traditional liberal democrats (like a Bill Maher) and the socialist (like the NYC mayor and AOC) co-exist. Will they (the socialist) take over the party like Trump took over the Republican Party? Will they kick out the Fetterman’s like the Republicans did the Romney’s?
While this is a small sample, it shows one thing: The government is too big and involves so much of the working AND white collar class (directly or indirectly) that it is virtually impossible to reduce without revolt - especially as drastically as was being done.
I think we may have a more consequential battle for our country than what most of us expected.
