He has proven the ability to create a program that can compete at a high level in the new day of NIL and Rev Sharing. Put that in place at LSU and we will be in great shape.

We do not want a middle tier Southland Conference AD to learn on the job at LSU.

Why would Scott Dolson want to leave Indiana for LSU?

1) He's spent the past 6 years building IU's turn-around in BBall and FB -> it's finally here, why would he want to start over again. What's about to happen over the next 10 years at IU will be his "sports legacy".
2) He's well compensated, funded (Mark Cuban + Top 5 biggest Alumni base), and strongly supported by the school (ideal working relationship with IU President Pamela Whitten). In an age of massive collegiate sports dysfunction, IU's President - AD - FB Coach - BB Coach combination is one of the healthiest and most functional groups in college sports.
3) He's an Indiana native and Midwest guy through-and-through. LSU experienced a poor cultural fit with Kelly, don't think Dolson would make the same mistake.

The thought that Dolson would "jump" for an SEC opportunity is on par with the wishful thinking that Cignetti would consider Penn St a better opportunity than Indiana over the next decade. At times, we all risk falling victim to our personal regional bias -> in terms of Dolson, this would be the case for LSU/SEC homers. People in the Midwest genuinely do not consider the SEC superior to the B10. Some may think Indiana's football success is just a short-term fluke, none of those people live in the Midwest.

To be transparent, here are my potential biases: Live in Texas (for over 30 years), Indiana (grad), SMU (post grad), Texas A&M fan (family school), and Virginia fan (family school). I don't dislike LSU, I consider it a Top 10 football program. In terms of the next decade, I don't consider LSU a superior opportunity to Indiana. I also don't consider Indiana a superior opportunity to LSU (it's more about fit and his blood-sweat-and-tears already invested in building the program).

As an IU fan, I'm far more worried about losing our OC or DC to a P4 head coaching job. I'm also struggling to come to terms that IUs budget is now being funneled predominantly into the football program at the expense of the basketball program.

That’s a lot of biases.

I’m of the approach that you go get the best guy.

While I give Cignetti tons of credit for coaching the team, they aren’t in the position they are in without the structure laid out by the athletic department.

He might be a tough pull, but you offer $$$$ and control and see what happens. With all do respect to Indiana, look at an aerial of Indiana’s Memorial Stadium vs Tiger Stadium. There is a bit of a difference.
