Agree or Disagree, What’s the Benefit in Doing All of This So Publicly?

Could Landry not have accomplished the exact same thing without all the additional attention and scrutiny LSU is getting right now?

No one would have questioned Woodward being shown the door and LSU could have quietly gone after getting an incentive based contract for the next head coach. What’s the benefit in showing your cards like this?

At best this just doesn’t have an impact on the coaching search. At worst it costs LSU a chance at a quality candidate. I fail to see a scenario where this is at all beneficial to the process. The next head coach is going to have to be a resounding success for all of this not to be looked back upon in a negative light, it just seems so unnecessary.

Campaign stunts only work if public. Him getting attention is the point. This is a successful playbook in 2025.

That aside our coaching moves are very publicized and messy.

Yep. Go back and read about Bobby Jindels second term. He did nothing good for the state. He wanted attention on the national stage.
It got him nothing and I can’t imagine Landry parading around like a clown is going to do much for him either at a national level.

Yep. 1 week ago he would have nevee dreamed of being on ESPN/Pat McAfee and now he is on there and they are talking about him. To him he’s getting great exposure.

Even if that’s the play here the rent is gonna come due on this before the next election. LSU is gonna have to get a top coach people are excited about or have immediate success with another candidate for Landry to get any shine off this. Seems like a bad bet to me.

?

We hired BK 4 years ago. It didn’t work out the way we all hoped but the process definitely didn’t look like this.
