BI made as many 3's last night than Trey has all year thus far. Let that sink in for a moment.

He's taking 4.4 threes a game in the 5 games he has played thus far, making 45% of them.
Trey is shooting 22% from 3.

Trey has scored over 13 points once this year.
BI hasn't scored under 14 points yet

BI is 100% a better basketball player than Trey. That’s not even debatable.

How are you going to be our number 2 option and only get up 8 shots?

He's absolutely got to stop trying to create his own shot. He gets no separation while dribbling.

Either wait for a kick from Zion or Fears, or get on the offensive glass. Otherwise, he's useless.

I think / hope the argument was Trey could be a more valuable player than BI because he is more efficient and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to operate.

That's the problem... Trey does need the ball in his hands to operate, despite being a terrible ball handler, because his off-ball movement is lazy as frick.

This is where I feel like the right coaching can help. Like the guys don’t look like they know what they should be doing.

There was some validity in thinking he could be a #2 option. Last year Trey was able to make an efficient play with the ball when defenders ran him off the line. That was the next step in his progression everyone was looking for. Either shoots the 3 or gets a good look because the defender sold out. Now for whatever reason nothing is working.

sure, to people who don't understand basketball.

You mean his best play was for someone else to create some gravity with the ball in their hands and kick it out to Trey with a defender that has to close out on him?

If he had a next step in that progression, we would have seen it years ago. Guys don't hold back how they play. they just don't magically start doing things they never did before when they are 25 years old.
Trey is a really good player, but he's a role player, an elite role player. BI isn't a #1 guy, and he might not be the best #2 guy for some teams, but he's 100% capable of creating for himself and for others on any given possession, regardless of who's guarding him or what the defense is doing. We lost that skillset when we traded him and didn't get it back in return, and our offense looks pathetic now. If not for Fears, we'd look even worse.
