People really need to stop saying Woodward is responsible for Jimbo’s buyout. Woodward was at LSU when Jimbo was given a raise and his buyout increased by 40 million. Woodward had already been gone 3 years when that happened. Woodward signed Jimbo to a 75 million dollar contract. He was 4 years into it when Bjork extended it and gave him a massive raise out of paranoia

A lot of our fans are. Woodward gave Jimbo a 10 year 75 million dollar contract prior to the 2018 season. Woodward then left and came to LSU. In 2021, Ross Bjork extended Jimbo’s contract by 3 years and gave him a 1.5 million/year raise. At the time he signed that contract, the remaining buyout was 52.5 million. The raise increased his buyout to 95.6 million dollars. They fired him 2 years later and paid him 77.5 million. Absent the raise Bjork gave him, his buyout would have been half that number. But because Woodward signed him to his original deal that was huge at the time, not so much by the time he was fired, apparently his entire buyout has been attributed to Woodward.
