Connie Smith redux - Tioga teen murdered in 1983 - would have been 60 today

Here is our old thread that is now locked for those who wish to review our long-term discussion going back to 2013:
LINK
Just last year a podcaster did a short series on this topic. I believe it was extraordinarily well done.
The blog for the episode on Connie
The main episode:
The blog for the follow up with Connie's brother, Brad
The follow up episode with Brad:
Youtube Link
I know from the past discussions that some of our posters knew Connie and, obviously, many others heard about the story at the time.
For my part, I knew her for only a short period of time - a school year. I knew of her before that for only a short period of time - a prior school year. She was an extraordinary person in real life. Despite her relatively short stature, she filled the room with her personality. There was a glow or aura about her that cannot be fully described in words. As a younger kid, very awkward, nerdy, she made all those differences in "class" or "archetype" disappear. I mean, she was THE girl. Homecoming Queen, campus beauty, cheerleader. And she treated me as an equal, even asked me for help with schoolwork.
I will never forget her and I miss my friend.
If anyone knows Bradley (or any of her brothers), I would appreciate your making them aware of the thread.

People I ended up working very closely with later are mentioned in that. I was at ASH at the time and have no memory of it. I wish I had known about it as a young adult.

In hindsight, knowing just how crazy Wallace and Glenn Reynolds were in real life, that coroner article "hits different" (as the kids say).
Ironically, I ended up getting to know Wallace a lot better than Glenn.

Thank you for keeping her memory alive. I didn’t know Connie, but was a senior at Menard that year and was certainly aware of that. I believe I tried to bump your thread one year and TD wouldn’t let me post

I was a junior so we know each other
I don’t recall this incident

Recently? Jacob Robertson or one of the Constance brothers (Michael and Hayden).

This dude had long blonde hair, and it was in the 90's. I met him, I think he may have played baseball for Tioga high. None of those names sound familiar. His wife was his assistant.

We know some of the same people as well - either your age or a year behind, initials PP from Ball. Also, a JN, plumber's kid also from Ball.
Plus the giant brothers who share the same last name with a famous rock star from Gainesville - I was in Boy Scouts with them.

I think I met him when he was a little kid. FTR I'm pretty sure I was talking about his older brothers who graduated in the early/mid 80s.

This was a pretty major local news story. The escape brought it back up. The Prestridge case, Small's involvement, just all of it was major local news.

I graduated with her and these threads always bring up fond memories of my time with Connie. She had a way of making me and others better just by her presence and friendship. Getting the call early that morning still seems surreal after all these years. It’s heart warming to see the kind words about her on here. She was a special person who deserves to be remembered.

Remember, this happened right after your senior party, Friday, May 13th (technically early Saturday morning, May 14th). Graduation wasn't until the following week.
I remember hearing about it in the grocery store, Saturday morning. I thought someone was making a sick joke.
I drive by the LDS temple on Versailles fairly often and remember the services. It was standing room only.

I ended up knowing just about every lawyer mentioned in those articles. As a kid, I wasn't around many lawyers, except Marion "Googie" French, who was my father's attorney.

I worked for, then with, one of them for 18 years.
