Question about Woodward.

The BK hire was a complete disaster but at the time it made sense.
All football coaches now at big schools have ridiculous buy outs. BK had a better pedigree at the hire time than Orgeron did, but, their ridiculous buyouts were similar. Coaches like Franklin and many others had ridiculous buyouts.
The basketball hire was horrendous, but, basketball isn’t LSU baseball or football. Only so much you can do there.
The Jay Johnson hire was a grand slam.
Why does Woodward get all the hate? BK was a disaster hire. He didn’t fit the culture, didn’t gel with the players and couldn’t win in meaningful games. But, at the time of the BK hire, he was the majority favorite. It didn’t work, it happens.
What else has Woodward done to get so much hate.
I understand the swing and miss in BK and basketball coach. But, doesn’t he get some leeway for the Johnson hire.
Guy is a LSU grad and really wanted to be here when first hired. GUy is all LSU
Who else do you want for AD and what else is the reason you want Woodward gone?

Because he fired WW and destroyed the BB program for a cause that’s normal in the NIL era.

Football and basketball have like 200 million invested in it (obviously most comes from football)
And both programs are at the worst they have been in my life time. If the director of athletics isn't at fault then why is he employed.

VooDude, I agree firing Wade was terrible. But, at the time he had to. Wade was allegedly writing checks to players from his personal account. Now that’s ok, but, then it was illegal.

NIL has put football in a weird period. Where coaches like Saban and BK no longer work. When BK was hired he was the popular hire of the time.
LSU basketball has had many tough times in recent years. Wade is a great coach, but, he broke rules that currently aren’t rules. What was Woodward to do? Keep a coach that broke the rules?
I’m not sure how old you are, but, I’m 49. Even with the BK debacle and the dumpster fire basketball team. As a program we are a lot better off than we were when I was younger.

Woodward’s main job is to evaluate talent to run programs and recruit them to LSU.
You said it. He sucked at the #1 priority of his job.
Yes he got Jay Johnson and Kim.
LSU pedigree in baseball got Jay and it was a no brainer. Skip and Jay also helped with that.
Kim Mulkey came home after she got pissed at Baylor.
He gets some credit for getting the money from boosters but they wanted to come. His hire of Brian Kelly is clearly a huge failure. I have yet to see what he has brought to the table with evaluation of management outside of what was hand fed to him in a bread basket.

Agree overall.
Disappointed with his things turned out. I really think Kelly tried to stabilize the program and instill positives traits but somehow didn’t translate to wins.
