Why don't the Saints try to PUNCH the ball each time they attempt a tackle ?

I mean the refs NEVER call a personal foul when a player is 'accidentally' punched in the gut and most teams use this tactic on the reg ??

Virtually every time we attempt a tckle it's via holding/grabbing...never via punching ? IF it's obviously allowed/never penalized why not use this tactic ??
