Texas Tech Mack Leftwich for new OC. - OC DISCUSSION ONLY

Can we please act like adults and not start all the fire Kelly stuff here? Plenty of threads for that. Plenty of "why would an OC go here" stuff already. I want a thread where we discuss the rrue possibilities of getting the offense fixed in one year on the chance that Kelly is still the coach next year.
I have zero doubts that this young guy would light a fire under the offense. He came from Incarnate Ward and has been the OC/QB coach at ICW, Texas St, and Texas Tech.
Leftwich was the one who recruited and coached Cam Ward at ICW (when he was just a QB coach). Cam Ward went from running an option offense in high school, to a pass heavy offense immediately. When his HC Eric Morris took Cam and went to Washington St, Mack stayed as the new OC and coached Lindsey Scott (LSU lore) to the Walter Payton award. His offense led the FCS in scoring averaging 581 ypg and 52 ppg.
He was hired as the OC/QB coach at Texas St when his ICW HC got a job at Texas St and he was nominated as a Broyles award finalist. Texas St went from averaging 325 ypg and 21 ppg to 457 ypg and 36.7 ppg. More LSU lore, T.J. Finley was his QB. Both Finley and Scott had their best seasons as a QB by far, and it's not close at all, with him as the OC/QB coach.
Now at Texas Tech,, he's showing out again. They went from averaging 27.4 ppg and 387 ypg before he got there, to 37.6 ypg and 463 ypg. This year they are averaging 43.6 ppg and and 500 yards per game. They average 300 passing and 200 rushing per game. Their starting QB isn't a runner, but the backup has 300 yards averaging 7 yards per carry, with 5 TDs. Their starting RB has 680 rushing and 9 TDs. Both QBs got hurt, and so their 3rd string QB came in yesterday off the bench and went 9-13 for 172 with a TD, plus a rushing TD.

Sounds like the next Joe Brady. Thanks for putting in the time on this.

Nobody new is getting hired mid season. People will get elevated from the existing staff.
Every penny needs to saved to terminate Kelly at the end of the year.

I don't know if I'd leave Texas Tech a stable job with cfp potential to go to LSU with a coach on the hot seat. Plus Texas Tech can pay just as much as us.

Is he Byron’s kinfolk?

Joe Craddock would be a home run hire for LSU!

quote:While I can understand this, LSU is just on another level of prestige. Also, LSU has ridiculous talent on offense. It's like being a kid in a candy store. Look at Peyton Houston coming in at QB too with MVB already here as well. Plenty incentives IMO. Three years at LSU, and he'd get higher tier P4 HC jobs.

quote:They most definitely could, but he's currently getting only 300k. Tech boosters seem to be putting crazy money in on recruiting and transfer portal (im talking about 5 mill each to a 5 star offensive and defensive lineman). I believe they think they could get another guy just as good at OC if he would leave.
