I researched the bowflex selecttech adjustable dumbbells over the past few days because I am planning to set up a small home gym and want something compact and versatile for strength training. I went through reviews on Men’s Health, Wirecutter, and T3, and these two models seem to be the most recommended ones:

Both have great feedback for convenience and design, but I am a bit confused about which one would suit me better. I mainly do general strength workouts, some HIIT sessions, and occasional heavy lifting. If anyone here has used either of these models, I’d really appreciate your advice. Are the bowflex selecttech adjustable dumbbells still worth buying in 2025? Or are there any better alternatives you’d recommend for a home gym setup? Thanks in advance!

I’ve had the select techs and the powerblocks. Power blocks broke and felt awkward. Selecttechs have never had a problem. Had them since 2006.

SelectTechs are superior to powerblocks or other alternatives that I'm aware of, for sure. While I prefer separate fixed rubber cap dumbbells, the expense is off the charts, plus the space requirements, etc.
I used SelectTechs for several years for P90X. You cannot drop them and my set had a little quirk with some settings, but I would still give them a solid B+ for P90X and your intended purpose.

Only goes up to 25 lbs. That is pretty limiting.
I went with the Nordictrack selectable dumbbells last year, and they are excellent.

If cost is an issue, you can wait a few weeks until black friday and likely get a good deal.

Pretty sure this is a bot post, but Core Fitness are better than the ones listed.

check out the Rep Fitness quick adjust dumbbells. A bit more expensive than the bowflex but way better in my opinion having owned both.
