Why don't politicians be the 1st to not get pay checks when they shut down the government?

Shouldn't they be the first to not get their pay checks and incentives if they choose to shut down the government? I understand most have built nice nest eggs since being in politics, but this is getting ridiculous!

Because, they are better than the rest of us.

That's why they get special rules, protection, ability to insider trade, etc.

They make the rules.

Most are in politics to build wealth for themselves and their friends. You do the math.

Dude, they have stock purchases they need to make. You can’t deny them that.

You would think the under the table and timely stock trading would be enough

They should not be paid during a shutdown. Period. And if they continue to decide to not pay our military personnel, some making a very low salary at low rank, their staffs in Congress should also not be paid.

That they would even consider on both sides of the aisle not paying the military is a disgrace.
