Shi Shi camellias having issues

Leaf scab usually means the plant is heat or water stressed.
I have several Shi Shi up to 30 years old that used to be full of healthy leaves. Now they all look much like your picture. About half the leaves are gone. There are many dead twigs. There are some new buds that look healthy. I'm assuming that last year's dry summer and winter's hard freeze damaged them.
