Apparently Mr Randle doesnt agree that his son can compete, so he is trying to fabricate a story that makes LSU out to be the bad guy- thinking that will spare his son from any criticism.

RR has the right, obviously, to go where he wants, and his dad has the right, obviously, to offer guidance to his son.

What they dont have the right to do is accuse their own state's flagship university of dishonesty without any concrete proof.

This is not true. If he doesn't come here he simply rejected LSU in favor of either Norman Oklahoma or Tuscaloosa Alabama.

That may be true, and while that would disappoint me, I would understand.

But that is not the way his dad is trying to play the situation.

If you think an OOS school has more to offer, then by all means go. But dont try to lay blame on LSU as being dishonest because they are offering a scholarship to a kid they have offered for the past 2 years.

If you believe what RR's dad said, then 2 things follow: the Randles asked LSU not to recruit Benton because RR was afraid of the competition, and the Randles were willing to sacrifice the happiness and desires of Benton to satisfy their own ego.

Mr Randle apparently called into a radio show and said he was opposed to RR attending LSU because Miles/LSU was not truthful about the recruitment of D. Benton.

I think everyone is missing the point. And, that point is: so fricking what? With or without Randle we still have a ridiculous WR corps.

Also, Mr. Kelly come on down.

Couldnt agree more. The kid may be good, but he isnt better than Julio Jones, and that kid couldnt carry bama to the SEC title.

LSu has a ton of proven talent. LSU is going to be just fine. RR is the one that is casting his future in a bad light with this nonsense.

Truth about what? It didnt take Miles to see what was going on with Benton.I mean shite, Rueben is maybe the best athelete in the country, he will start at LSU. Whats to discuss?
I've never seen Miles act in any way but honest. I find it hard to believe.

Benton has been an LSU committ/signee for two freaking years and he is from Bastrop. I find it hard to believe there was any misunderstanding about benton's status with lsu.

Exact point I made and still do not understand the sudden issue with Benton being at LSU.

Basically that RR would be competing w/ Toliver for the no. 2 WR

vs

Benton would be competing w/ RR for the no. 3 spot

Who cares if you are 3,4,5 on a WR chart. I guess because we never lose receivers for extended periods...
Doucet, S. Green, Holiday, any others. Every year we lose one of the best WR for 3+ games. If you perform when you get your shot then you stay on the field. Considering how much we use 3 and 4 wr sets + plus annual injuries, RR would get more playing time than he wants against these rigid SEC Defenses.

Let him go... Sometimes these things work out for the best. It sure would have been nice for X. Carter, RP, Demps, etc. to have chosen another school.

the bastrop newspaper quotes rr's dad as mentioning that the wr depth is cause for concern, now that d. benton has firmed up once again for LSU.

it's a weak arguement, as emmitt says rr doesn't mind competition. but nonetheless, it's what he's floated out there. + it's not like they've not known about d. benton...go figure.

I agree. If he'd would have come to LSU and been unable to earn a spot on the field by his play, apparently he or his dad would have made a stink.

Better to cut ties with a malcontent before he gets on the team and does any damage.

Based on his dad's comments, is there any other way to interpret the situation?

Let's see..

Craig Davis, Dewayne Bowe, Early Doucet, and Brandon LeFell all played together in 2006. All four are in (or will be) in the NFL.

Why would the Randle's be worried about how WR depth is handled?

If you are good (in this case, that good to be #1 WR) you will come to the top and shine.

If RR doesn't come to lsu its not because the staff was dishonest about benton.
