The nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen 3.4 cents over the last week and stands at $3.15 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data compiled from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. The national average is up 1.6 cents from a month ago and is 13.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 1.4 cents in the last week and stands at $3.665 per gallon.
“With the unofficial end of summer now behind us, we saw the lowest national average price of gasoline on Labor Day since 2020, with prices lower than a year ago in all but three states,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “This caps off the most affordable summer at the pump since 2021, with motorists spending $11.3 billion less on gasoline compared to last year. While summer may be in the rearview mirror, low gas prices aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, so long as we avoid major hurricanes or other disruptions, we’re on solid footing to see the national average dip to $2.99 per gallon this fall.”

Well at least those protesting yesterday didn't have to spend much money on gas to get to where they were needed.

I know Buckee's in Leeds AL was 2.45 a gallon - pretty sure there are some stations around Tuscaloosa that are around the same price - won't lie it is pretty nice.
now if the Birmingham area stations would follow suit, it would be great

I personally read every topic you post. And I'm a fan, but the ebb and flow of weekly OG is amazing. If we did a collage of your subject lin3s week over week, it would be a hilarious meme. NOT your problem, however.

With O&G news you can chose to pull headlines each week to fit a narrative.
Not saying that is what the OP does, but O&G looks bleak right now in reality. For the consumer they get a break at the pump, but the market will shift the other way eventually and there will be a lot of pain or simply just not enough supply.

Ohio is 3.35 in my area. It jumped over .50 last week

And also, I thought it was supply and demand why it was so high under Biden? I’m sure just as many people are driving this year

Weird. According to the above data, Ohio saw the largest statewide average drop over the course of the week, 18.5 cents per gallon.

You are correct supply and demand… it is driven by worldwide supply and opec+ and others have opened the supply.. we are drilling less wells now than we were a year ago..
“ The total U.S. rig count is around 536 as of late August 2025, which is lower than the 585 rigs reported a year ago, representing a significant decrease of approximately 8.38%

Yeah, because it jumped to 3.49 and dropped to 3.35 during the week. It was under 3.00 at the beginning of that week
