Clemson Hype

Maybe I'm missing something here, but where did all of this Clemson hype come from?
I understand that they are talented and experienced at every level. After watching some of their games from last year, I just don't see all of the hype that most people do. Their run defense wasn't great, especially playing an ACC schedule.. their d line is awesome, but a lot of those stats are over inflated based on a few games. Kade makes bad decisions just like nuss at times.
I know they'll be better this year, obviously.
Im trying to be unbiased. A lot of people think Clemson will make playoffs and are one of the favorites to make the championship game. Those same people think LSU loses 3 or 4 games (understandable bc of our schedule). However, the majority dont bring up the schedule. They bring up our o line, and nuss turnovers etc.
What am I missing here on why Clemson gets a shite ton of hype based on a mediocre year last year (even with a shite schedule). it started blowing up over the summer and everyone jumped on that hype train.
This may be a hot take, but I think LSU should handle Clemson on Saturday. Key word "should", they gotta go prove it. They haven't in the past 4 years. Clemson has also lost two openers in a row and 4 of the last 5 I think. The film hasn't shown me anything that stands out and makes me think that they are some juggernaut.
Games are played on the field, so none of this hype matters. Was just curious on why people are so high on Clemson all of a sudden.

Typical media trying to want something into reality

I mean Clemson is what, 0-5 against the SEC right now? The line for the game opened at 2.5 favoring Clemson (likely just because it's a home game) and Clemson 1-6 against the spread.
Their "stud" RG is also banged up and has been gimping around on crutches a week ago, LG is still a question for them as well. IMO it's the pre-season hype bs every year. If LSU is trailing a bit at half and AJ didn't play the first half, slam the ML LSU.

They made the playoffs last year and return most of their team, including a top 5 QB.
Agree or disagree, but that's where the hype is coming from.

Playoffs for an ACC team doesn't mean anything, have you looked at the teams they play? They lost to DUKE lmao

Agreed, but that doesn't change the fact that them being a playoff team last year contributes to the hype for this year.

Hype is not “all of a sudden” They are ranked #4 and 3.5 pt favorite over LSU. That line has not moved.

UCLA, FSU, FSU, USCw
I’ll worry about the hype factor when these season-opener monkeys are off our back.

I agree with your thinking
but Clemson is returning 16 starters, have a stud QB and they are playing at home
They should be favored to win until LSU shows up with an elite team that plays well under fire
we don't know what LSU is yet...too many new pieces to know until they play
in fact, we won't know how good LSU can be until about mid season

I saw one dude (not a Clemson fan) call their Dline the 2007 NY Giants. Like WTF is going on. How did we get here

I've been wondering the exact same thing!!!

I believe the line actually opened at 2.5, any spreads you see now are adjusted to balance their books/bets and don't reflect the actual line. Clemson is also 1-6 ATS.
