Is anyone using Specticle flo in landscape beds? Not around annuals but around shrubs. Are you satisfied with the results? What other pre emergent would you recommend? Fighting chamberbitter, dove, spurge and sedges. Don't want to see this next year.

I'm a little disappointed in the lack of responses. It seems to me, that in a well established bed, one where you have no plans to plant seeds, that a pre-emergent would be beneficial.

Kind of like Preen but with the same stuff as used for the lawn.

Just being an inquiring mind.

Specticle Flo is an excellent, though expensive, pre-emergent herbicide. I’ve not used it in landscape beds, just the lawn, but is labeled for use in landscape beds and detailed guidelines for its use in landscape beds is on the herbicide label.

If Doveweed is a significant issue in your beds then Specticle would be the best of the pre-emergent herbicides to use as most of the other pre-emergents are not effective on Doveweed. None of the pre-emergents will be effective on sedges that emerge from tubers.

Other good landcape bed pre-emergents would be dithiopyr (Dimension), Isoxaben (Gallery) and Prodiamine (Barricade).
