Yeah it sucks losing 3 teams this offseason. The league started out as 7 teams in 2018 and now is down to 8 from a high of 13 teams at one point.


I think for any future expansion they need to focus on smaller mid sized cities that don't really have any pro sports teams.

Don't know ownership has been mum after just less than a year ago putting out their seven year plan and stating that they were committed to the future.

There's been some speculation that they couldn't secure new grounds that they were looking for but I think the problems were largely financial. None of the teams in the league are profitable.

It's hard starting a pro league for a niche sport in a country that has several sports leagues that are the top in the world at their respective sports.

I think if growth is going to come it's going to have to come from the youth level rather than trying to convert adult sports fans who are already fans of other sports. Need to get more varsity rugby at the college level and really most importantly more rugby at the high school level. It is happening it's just slowly.
