Watch out for Scammers on this Site

Just had someone try to buy football tickets from me and he was a scammer. His handle was Tiger FanBoy and his email was Geauxtigers1984@outlook.com. Be careful dealing with him.

Normally see scammers selling not buying. What was the deal? His other posts in his history look legit.

That is what I thought as well. He claimed he paid $600 to my Venmo (or at least he said he did), then I received an alleged text from Venmo saying that my account was only authorized to accept $400 from a business account, so I needed to tell the sender to send an additional $400. This again made no sense. The text gave me a telephone number to a known scammer phone number. The known scammer phone number was 313-301-6093, which is not a Venmo customer service number. He then sent me an email and said he had already sent the additional $400 to Venmo (who does that?) and that he had called that phone number provided in my text. I figured out the text was from him, not Venmo Customer Service (I had given him my cell phone number to confirm). He stopped emailing me after I caught him. Pretty elaborate. Watch out.

Is it even possible to change your name on this site? I didn’t think so.

Well that’s wild! Thanks for explaining.

I guess you can change your profile name, because he certainly did.

Looking back at that post, I think you may be falsely accusing HoldThatTiger03 .. you posted your email in that thread, HoldThatTiger03 does not have an email listed. Probably some scammer without a TD account contacted you, your email is out there for the public to see not the original poster's

I could be convinced otherwise. I have all of my emails with him.
Here is what happened:
All of the emails came from Tiger Fanboy at Geauxtigers1984@outlook.com I even gave Tiger Fanboy my cell phone number and told him to call me to confirm everything. He never did call me.
I then received the strange Spam Text, pretending to be from Venmo, to my cell phone. I didn't post my cell phone number on the post.
Tiger Fanboy responded to that Spam Text.
Even all of the follow up emails came from Geauxtigers1984@outlook.com
After it was all said and done and I accused him of the scam, he was still sending me emails.
I am very cautious when I sell my tickets on the LSU Ticket Exchange.

That is what I was wondering about he posted on Hold that tigers thread with his email. Doesn’t mean that is who actually emailed him. It can happen real quick if you aren’t paying attention closely but HTT has been around a while.

Sounds like the name attached to their email was Tiger Fanboy. You can't change your user name on TD. There is not a Tiger Fanboy in the TD member list. No doubt someone was trying to scam you, it just was not the poster you are accusing. It was a random scammer who contacted you because you put your email on a public forum.

You can't just change your TD user name, you are accusing the wrong person. I am not sure why you think their user name that has been in use for 6 years was somehow changed then changed back in a 3 hour window to scam you. You posted your email and some random scammer tried to same you is the only explanation.

If this is true I’d like to know how.
