Low Tech question about Rapid Radios

My Mom lives alone with no physically close neighbors and she constantly loses her flip phone and then has no communication with family if she needs help.
I'm thinking if those things work, she could turn it on and call me or my brother and we could come help or at least call her phone so it would ring and she could find it.
I believe they operate off the same principle as the old Nextel cell phone technology and want to know the practicality of them. It would not be her principle communications device. She is somewhat remote, has no internet, and does not drive.
Suggestions?

I'm thinking something like this would be a better way to find a lost flip phone.

Have you considered an old school landline? If she can’t keep track of a cell phone, how will she keep track of a walkie talkie?

She certainly was on their lists.
One option might be to reinstall the landline but remove the ringer. That way, she could call her own number and locate the cell phone.
