Is there any way to access the Mississippi River in the River Parishes by Boat?

There was a ramp in donaldsonville. Don’t know if it’s still there. Also I think there is one near bonnet carre in the river.

I can’t link it for some reason, but go the LDWF website
click on fishing
Find the Outdoor Explorer link
there is a box you can check and it shows all the public boat ramps in Louisiana
All kinds of other things you can play around with there too

I went look on Google Maps. Is this the one you speaking of?

That one is on that WLF map. They also have the one at the base of the bridge in BR.

Yes. Bonnet Carre is one.
We launch off of the revetments North of 81 Mile Point. Across from the old silo on River Road. Cross the levee. Go to the riverside and launch straight off of the revetments.
Check out my friend Chief Carl Dunn on Facebook. He catches tons of catfish there. Only when the river is below flood stage in BR. 32 ‘ is the level IIRC.

I watched this video and I was wondering where they launched. They caught some tanks. We do pretty well on the jugs in the ICW but I want to go tango with them on the rod-n-reel.

When I get home I’ll pin a location. We fish around 81 Mile Point. They is a barge loading operation just North of there. Many big cats downstream.
Skipjack herring is the bait. We have tried shrimp, pogeys, chicken liver. Skipjack holds on a hook and will outproduce everything.
Go on the Chief Carl Dunn ‘a page. He is my fishing buddy. Many videos. Has been fishing the river for years

I've watched him before.

Carl is a world class gentleman. Catfisherman Extrodinaire.
He has some skipjack in his freezer for me. He buys it by the ice chest. Used to buy a 40# box of chicken livers. I’ll get some skipjack for you and your boy to try.
Pro tip : We use a disc brake rotor for an anchor. No need for an expensive anchor that you may lose. They hold well and are free.
I use small rotors to anchor fish traps and the head end of hoop nets. I use a stake on the tail end so I can stretch them tight.

Port Allen has a ramp at the intercoastal canal on LA1. Right next to the locks to the river. The locks are available for any boat. It is a bit unnerving when the river is high!

Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators website has an interactive map with all boat launches listed.
