I’ve never been a big superman guy, only saw Snyder version. Hoult was fantastic in the role and I hope he gets the screen time he deserves after getting cut for batman and Superman.
With that being said, why did everyone hate Jesse Eisenberg take on lex? I haven’t watch any DCEU since the release of Snyders Justice league when it dropped on HBO. But I don’t remember eisenberg being that terrible and kinda reminds me of Hoult from what I remember. Both seemed quirky (eisenberg much more), both had monologues where they talk to themselves, kind gloating or hyping themselves up. Did eisenberg overact or something?

Am I right or wrong?

I thought he would’ve been better suited as a Riddler type character (Jim Carey not Dani) instead of playing Lex. Halos didn’t come off nearly menacing or ruthless enough to be Lex, IMO.

I know they went with the brains over bronze type. But I wish he was a little more built like in some of the animated versions. But eventually, we will get him in his armor suit, so I guess he does not have to be big.

Corenswet put on 45 pounds of muscle for the film, I wonder what hoult would look like if he gained 45 pounds of muscle

Lex Luthor is not a sniveling little weasel like Eisenberg portrayed him. He's a calculating brilliant scientist billionaire that tries to beat Superman with brains & money rather than brawn. Hoult and Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville are the closest to the comics portrayals.

I thought Eisenberg was great in BvS. Interesting monologues and calculated behind-the-scenes machinations one would expect from Lex. However, I’ll admit that I liked that movie more than most, and I’m also a fan of Eisenberg as an actor.

He was going for the 2011 facebook lizard person CEO so I understand wanting to do something different

But I would’ve much rathered a more classic Bryan Cranston type for BvS

I liked the Snyder movies (his cuts, not the studio) but Eisenberg's portrayal of Lex was embarrassingly bad. Far too over the top, campy and not even menacing in the slightest.

I hated the new Superman movie and thought it was Michael Bay bad, but Hoult did a superb job as Luthor. He really deserved to be Lex in BvS while Jesse Eisenberg should have been saved for Gunn's live action Nickelodeon movie.

Hoult as Lex was the best part of the new movie. I don't understand people crapping on his performance

Animated shows of Superman and JL were fantastic. In that Luthor has more of a built body type. Believe those were super popular with others as well.

Jesse Eisenberg over played the character. and I honestly couldn't seperate the role of him playing Mark Zuckerberg.
