Get your shots and don’t go if you have any cuts or open wounds. Vermilion river is a shithole, you could possibly find a dead body so that’s a plus.

UPDATE: Finally made it out there. This route took us all the way to the lake and it wasn't a bad paddle. The scenery was a bit surreal on the way to the lake - from the water we watched a plane take off right next to us (maybe 200 yards away?), lol. Once we got off the Vermillion it was very pretty. The fishing wasn't there that day, so we spent most of the time exploring.
